I am a published author and co-author of nine books. My latest book is 'Where is Daniel?' written with Bruce and Denise Morcombe about the search for their 13-year old son, Daniel. It was the bestselling book in Australia in August, a rare feat for true crime and was published by Pan MacMillan. Five of my other books are in the true crime genre. I have also written a travel book, Australian Geographic Guide to Tasmania, and a novel, The Curer of Souls based on diaries written by three different characters in nineteenth century Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania). My first book, Brothers in Arms, published in 1989 and co-authored with my best friend, Sandra Harvey has sold more than 100,000 copies and was made into a successful six part mini-series by Screentime in 2012 called Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms. It attracted more than a million viewers. My other books include Honeymoon Dive with Jennifer Cooke and an updated Fatal Honeymoon Dive, (available as an ebook) the story behind the death of Tina Watson while scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef. Her husband, Gabe Watson was charged with her murder and later acquitted.

I was an investigative journalist at The Sydney Morning Herald (1989-1995) for 12 years and the first female Chief Police reporter.

I have taught life writing and founded two postgraduate writing programs at the University of Tasmania and James Cook University (1999-2012).

I am currently working on a trilogy - a work of fiction.
